It allows the younger generation to get to know more about the past... and the good old days...

As my grandfather passed away years before I was even born, I didn't have the chance to hear from him any good old tales of Joo Chiat area.

May I know if you happen to have any photo of the old Lily Cinema which u've mentioned in your blog too? I am really curious how it used to look...

Warmest regards,
Eliza E Y Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11158662669771079354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380976373019426511.post-29390124590676669572009-01-25T04:05:00.000-08:002009-01-25T04:05:00.000-08:00Yes, Philip it could be snooker but it had a Hokki...Yes, Philip it could be snooker but it had a Hokkien name which sounded like,"soot chee". Could be the local version of snooker. Remember where we used sticks to hit round wooden tablets into 4 holes at the corner of the table?
What do you call it in English?
AndyANDY: Pop Music Not Pills. ©https://www.blogger.com/profile/10946638825812052608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380976373019426511.post-20980237996207790492009-01-15T18:47:00.000-08:002009-01-15T18:47:00.000-08:00Hi Andy, since you were a regular at Chiku Road, d...Hi Andy, since you were a regular at Chiku Road, did you notice the people gathering at the corner coffee shop? They were watching expert dum players. I remember travelling with my little Vespa in the Joo Chiat area then. Not too many cars and you could just park the scooter anywhere.

A friend lived at Chiku Road and we scootered to the beach behind the Roxy Cinema.

Cheers.
AndyANDY: Pop Music Not Pills. ©https://www.blogger.com/profile/10946638825812052608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380976373019426511.post-13112303556433562192008-11-02T05:59:00.000-08:002008-11-02T05:59:00.000-08:00you are welcome.you are welcome.Philip Chewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00471104380601032313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1380976373019426511.post-16095986511328228022008-11-02T01:05:00.000-07:002008-11-02T01:05:00.000-07:00Thanks for your interesting post! Thanks for your interesting post!Biancahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12475421699495809356noreply@blogger.com
